Weekly Afternoon Online Group to support Kids’ Mental Health

Day/Time: Monday afternoons 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Location: Online
Facilitator: Melissa Scheichl B.Ed., M.Ed., MSW – In addition to her qualifications as a Social worker, Psychotherapist, Melissa has worked for various school boards in Ontario over the years as an Educator in grades K-8.
Fees: $75/week *A receipt will be issued each week for Social Work/Psychotherapy services for reimbursement if you have benefit/insurance coverage for Social Work services
Helping kids to manage common emotions and struggles with tools and strategies that support mental health.
This psychoeducation and group meeting format involves 8 sessions on the following topics:
- Week 1: Introduction to the Program – WHO AM I? – Getting to know each other & creating a safe, fun place for sharing
- Week 2: Feelings Wheel- Naming and Understanding our Feelings
- Week 3: Anxiety & My Reptile Brain
- Week 4: Seeing Red – What can we do with ANGER
- Week 5: Feeling Blue – Dealing with Sad feelings
- Week 6: Understanding Stress – Tools to help us keep calm and peaceful
- Week 7: Bullying and Conflict
- Week 8: Closing Week- Vision Boards
This program is intended for school-aged children in Grades 3-8
Weekly meetings are online. Members of the group commit to respectful, supportive, nonjudgemental and appropriate behaviour towards self, and other group members in the program. This is intended to be a safe space to grow and learn together.
The intention of this program is to provide tools, skills, and resources to support children with their mental health in a kid-appropriate setting.
