Spring is the Time to get Unstuck

While many people think of Spring as a time of new growth and light and energy, it might be surprising to know that some people find this time unbearable!  In their bodies, minds and spirits..  they feel STUCK and stagnant….mucous and allergies and Spring colds and flus can come up and some people feel MORE TIRED, lethargic and like they just don’t want to get out of bed!

Just as Nature gets things flowing in the Spring – think of snow melting and rivers starting to flow…we need to get our energy moving to get unstuck as well!

To get UNSTUCK in any area of your life… begins with softening, breath and gentle movement and letting go of any HOLDING ON to GO WITH THE FLOW…gently and with ease….

Here are some ways you can work with me privately to get unstuck:

We can do a private yoga class online through skype or facetime or locally if you live in the Greater Toronto Area.

  • Pranayama Breath Work: Alternate Nostril Breathing
Alternate Nostril breathing is a beautiful breathing technique that helps keep the mind calm, happy and peaceful by just practicing it for a few minutes. It also helps release accumulated tension and fatigue. The breathing technique is named Nadi Shodhan, as it helps clear out blocked energy channels in the body, which in turn calms the mind. It is also known as Anulom Vilom pranayama.(nadi = subtle energy channel; shodhan = cleaning, purification; pranayama = breathing technique)
  • Kundalini Awakening Yoga Technique
A sequence is designed to stimulate the glandular system, invigorate internal organs, strengthen the immune system and increase stamina.  Through the use of relatively vigorous exercise cardio-vascular efficiency is improved, and very importantly the energy of `kundalini` is awakened to flow through the body, particularly from the base to the top of the spine.
  • Introduction to Meditation
Whether you are experienced with meditation or have never tried it before, bring any questions you may have about Meditation as we discuss the benefits of cultivating a home meditation practice and try 3 different meditations in class on this day (Body Scan Meditation, Guided Chakra Meditation and Loving Kindness Meditation).
  • Gentle Vinyasa Practice
Vinyasa is movement synchronized with the breath.  In this gentle practice we will move mindfully with the breath to flow almost dance-like in coordinatin with our inhale and exhale breaths.  Vinyasa has both mental and physical benefits. Physically, sweat expels toxins and re-energizes your body. Mentally, the synchronized breathing relaxes your mind and helps to release any blockage of energy flow throughout your body.
  • Yin Yoga Practice
A Yin yoga practice is the antidote to the chaotic, stressful, face-paced lives we have all become so accustomed to.  Think of longer holds of gentle, delicious stretches to relax the body and mind and connect with spirit. We will KISS – Keep it Slow and Simple in this lovely practice.

  • Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra

Relax and restore to rejuvenate!  This amazing class might seem luxurious… think YOGA nap but for those type A’s out there who want to make sure they are working something…I promise you the benefits of a restorative practice are ten fold! Strengthen your parasympathetic nervous system to help your body cope with stress and to simultaneously stimulate your organs and deeply relax your body and mind.
